She's baaaack!

I'm in love again. In addition to my wonderful Ray, I've fallen for Jill Scott's latest release, Beautifully Human. I know tongues are waggin about this CD, so let me add mine to the chatter.

I first heard Jill when my brother called me to play a track from CD #1, Who is Jill Scott? Her words and sounds take me to a secure and loving place. After seeing her live at one of my favorite venues nearly four years ago, I came home and wrote (pre-blog):

"I can immediately put my finger on why I enjoyed her show so much: she’s accessible. She has definite star power, but in a regular-girl-from-North-Philly way. You don’t have to go through any scripture-laced poutiness or Afro-New Age cult dogma to get to what she’s feeling. And singing. And sharing. Jill Scott had fun with us. And we sang along, incited to chorus: la da da de da da da da.

Her opening song, A Long Walk is one of my favorites, and at times I couldn’t hear her singing words because of the audience singing right along. She performed her encore song, He Loves Me, absolutely beautifully. I was holding my chest at one point, because she was obviously singing with someone in mind – the one who gave her that fat phat diamond ring. "

Aside from the dis of Lauryn and Erykah, I still feel the same thing today, as I live my life like it's Golden. So so glad Jill's music is back!
