shocked

i don't know what to say. i'm deeply, deeply upset over john kerry's loss. i feel like it is a personal blow. we're in for some troubling, trying times.

i've heard many conversations about leaving the u.s., and i've had those same thoughts myself, but that's not really an answer, is it? remember, under that sea of red is a blanket of blue (and vice versa on the coast and in the northeast).

in many ways, our task is much more difficult than our opposites' (some say adversaries) - it is much easier to convince someone of your point using fear as a motivator and "tradition" as an ambiguous objective. trying to prompt change through peace and a more inclusive vision has always been antithetical to the u.s. view of self. john wayne is a national hero, remember? he fought the indians, remember?

i'm trying not to let bitterness cloud my thinking, and instead start figuring out what we can do in the face of perhaps unparalleled "Republicanism." it definitely makes me re-think what it means to be "american." but d*mmit, it's our country, too! remember?!
