back after a nice vacation. ahhhhhhhh.

like the saying goes, i love nueva york! i've always had a good time there. i'm utterly intrigued by nueva york and by new yorkers. the immensity of the place amazes me; what's more astounding is that somehow all those individually disparate people and pieces come together to make the city work.

in my mind, nueva york is a black and brown place. it strikes me as strange to see a white person in brooklyn or uptown, even though i know that there are long-standing communities of ethnic europeans there. still, nueva york is caribbean and southern, african and south asian. this is why i prefer the name "nueva york" as a nod to the City's growing and groovy brownness, specifically latin and african.
